I need to do this task in order to have a confident understanding of the shot varieties that is required in music videos. I ended up story boarding a short sequence from an existing music video called 'The Pretender' by Foo Fighters. The process I went through was drawing the shots from the short sequence and then taking pictures of those drawings to upload onto adobe premiere pro to edit together as an animatic. Although I had learnt from the previous task how to use markers I did not actually use the markers, but I did it by ear and how long the same shot corresponds to the image I drew; either way was easy for me yet I just preferred my method to be quicker at that moment. In addition, there was also a split screen used to show that the shots are similar to my interpretation.
Furthermore, by doing this task I learnt that even though there are twenty eight shots altogether there were only fourteen shots used in forty five seconds and those shots involved a; tilted crane shot, long angle, high/low angle, medium shot, close ups, long shot, tracking shot, graphic match, off centre shot, extreme close up/long shot, zoom in and also a panning shot. In the band there were four members yet the lead singer had been focused on thirteen times with the following movements; close ups, extreme close ups as well as a panning shot to follow the lead singer. Also there were two guitarists that were seen five times along with the drummer being seen four times, however there was only two complete shots of the whole band which were both long shots. Another point is that the mise-en-scene includes an empty room such as a warehouse being lighted as the performance starts. The band members clothing was casual and matched with the colours in the room because there was white, black and red, which was suitable to create the mood of the entire video. Last but not the least there were no other props apart from the bands instruments.
Finally, what I have learnt about the pace of editing in a music video is that it can range for each and every video out there, because in the first forty five seconds there is a total of twenty eight shots hence why typical length of the shots along with the pace needs to be fast; yet the beginning does start of slow as it is eight seconds, however this is to build up into the faster speed.
