AS2-Task Two:Analyse the Artist

The artists name is Joel Adams and he is a young teenager currently nineteen years old but soon to be twenty on the 16th December. Adams was born and raised outside of Brisbane, Australia due to this he has a diverse ethnic background as he has Portuguese, South African, English as well as Australian roots. Also Joel is a singer/songwriter and as shown on Joel's first album cover he wears casual clothing that compliments with his bright blue coloured eyes and brown hair.

Joel has a YouTube channel where most of his content is covers of other well known artists songs, therefore was a self-produced artist. Joel even went to Australian X Factor where he unfortunately was not able to make it past boot camp. However, he was liked a lot by the reaction of the crowd and judges in his first audition, because at the age of fifteen in 2012 he sang 'This Girl is Mine' which is sang by Michael Jackson featuring Paul McCartney. His inspiration was Michael Jackson possibly why he chose to sing a song by Michael Jackson but he also listens to artists for example Ed Sheeran, Adele, Stevie Wonder and many more. Later Adams got recognised by his current independent record label which is Will Walker Records LLC,

So far Joel Adams only has one debut single that was released on 24th December 2015 called 'Please Don't Go', the genre of this song is pop music. There are sub-genres that he also sings which include the following; soul music along with indie pop. The music video did spectacularly well as the video has over 41 million views along with charting in fifteen countries but peaking number six in Sweden. Additionally, this song was written four years ago at school within the space of twelve minutes he strummed a few chords to make the melody for a school performance week. The inspirations behind the songs that Joel writes are based on emotional experiences that can trigger his creativity, in an interview he stated "I almost never write when I'm really happy or mellow but I write my best songs when I'm sad or angry because I feel that's what really gets me to open up lyrically." As of now Joel is still writing thirty eight songs to help catapult his future upwards, plus his song 'Please Don't Go' is helping him branch out as it is available on outlets such as; spotify, apple music and much more.
